The conference, which is open to all interested individuals and organizations, has as its primary goal to: Examine our understanding of the effects of noise on aquatic organisms (marine mammals to invertebrates).

The emphasis of the conference is on science and scientific standards of discussion and evaluation.  However, we anticipate that we will also lay foundations for the following:

a.   define the major research questions, both basic and applied, that must be answered to enhance our understanding of the effects
                    of noise upon  aquatic life;
            b.
   enable scientists, regulators, and industry to meet and to start to come to a shared understanding of what is actually known
                    about the effects of noise on aquatic life;
            c.
    help scientists understand how their findings can be applied in a regulatory and industry context;
            d.
   enable regulators and representatives of industry to play a part in developing research projects for the future; and
            e.
    improve networking between individuals concerned with noise and aquatic life.
